Bio

Christina Skjølberg originally comes from the island of Smøla on the northwest coast of Norway. When she entered the Norwegian blues scene more than a decade ago, there were still very few women playing blues guitar—both in Norway and internationally. While that has changed to some extent over the years, left-handed female blues guitarists are still a rare breed.

With outstanding guitar skills, a commanding stage presence, and a voice marked by authenticity, intensity, and emotion, Christina has established herself as a distinctive artist on the Norwegian blues and rock scene.

Her musical influences are deeply rooted in the blues, funk, and rock of the 1960s and 1970s, and these influences shape both her songwriting and her live performances. Audience members who grew up with this music often leave her concerts saying, "I never thought I'd get to experience this again." Christina gives everything she has on stage and knows exactly how to captivate an audience.

Christina began performing at Norwegian blues clubs in 2009 and achieved her international breakthrough in 2014 with the release of her debut album, Come and Get It, on the German label Ruf Records. That same year, she toured Europe as part of the Ruf Records Blues Caravan, gaining invaluable experience on some of Europe's most respected blues and rock stages. In the years that followed, she performed regularly at clubs and festivals across Norway, Germany, Sweden, and Austria, steadily building a strong reputation among blues audiences.

In 2022, Christina released her second album, I'm on Fire, which received excellent reviews both in Norway and internationally. The album continued her signature blend of blues, rock, and funk, firmly rooted in the sound and spirit of the 1970s.

Since the release of I'm on Fire, Christina has remained highly active on the live circuit. She has performed extensively at Norwegian blues clubs, appeared on several blues cruises, and played festivals and concert venues both in Norway and abroad. She has also collaborated with a number of internationally acclaimed artists and musicians, bringing fresh musical inspiration to both her performances and her audiences.

Alongside her touring schedule, Christina has devoted much of her time to writing and developing new material. The result is a brand-new album that is now ready for release, featuring songs that continue to reflect her passion for classic blues and rock while also revealing new dimensions of her musical identity. And the creative momentum shows no signs of slowing down—work on the album that will follow is already well underway.
